The Kenya Golf Union and
Kenya Ladies Golf Union established the Junior Golf Foundation in 1995. THE
PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES OF THE FOUNDATION ARE: -
The promotion and development of golf for young amateurs up to the age of 18.
- Introduction
of more young people to the sport as a catalyst to building a strong golfing nation.
- Development
of young golfer's skills and enjoyment of the game.
TO
MEET THESE OBJECTIVES THE FOUNDATION AMONGST OTHER WAYS: -
Solicits support and donations from individual and corporate bodies, the R & A,
other golfing bodies, golf professionals, suppliers of golf equipment and member
clubs of the KGU.

Organises competitions and coaching schemes.

Facilitates International participation for leading juniors at International events.
- Involves golf
clubs and schools in recruitment and participation.

Assist with the application for grants and golf scholarships
The
FOUNDATION is run by Trustees appointed by the KGU and KLGU
HOW CAN THE CLUBS HELP THE FOUNDATION IN ITS OBJECTIVES?
- Appointing a junior golf
convenor who will meet and exchange ideas with convenors from other clubs.
- Create
a junior golf section at their club and facilitate coaching and competitions.
- Appointing
a junior golf captain among the pool of juniors. Such captainship exposes a young
person to leadership skills, organizational ability and is a strong plus when
sourcing for scholarships.
- Handicapped
junior golfers should be encouraged to play in full competitions and the FOUNDATION
recommends that they be awarded any prize should they WIN IT ON MERIT.
